Oliver Wendell Jones pointed at the different clouds and explained the scientific differences between cirrus, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus clouds. After a while Binkley finally worked up his courage and said, "Look at those clouds over there, they look like two horsies and a cowie."

As a writer, I live on the same edge as Binkley and am looking for some horsie and cowie clouds to flip over today. Thanks for your wonderful perspective.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396137415213652776.post-7238171769032669332015-03-18T09:30:31.799-07:002015-03-18T09:30:31.799-07:00As writers, we put words to emotions and sensation...As writers, we put words to emotions and sensations that others feel but can’t articulate, so that when someone reads it, they think, “Yes—that’s exactly it. That’s how I feel.”

I think the only way to do that is to put down exactly how I feel. Capturing the truth demands emotional honesty. I'll let you in on a little secret: I've never been bit by a vampire, but I have been betrayed by a friend. My work as a writer is to translate that moment to the page, shading it just a little so it makes sense to the character who's just seen the fangs come out.Liv Rancourthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13171029958375171223noreply@blogger.com
